Germany 20th Century Phenomenology, Existentialism

Biography

Martin Heidegger was one of the most influential philosophers of the 20th century. His main question is the question of Being, forgotten by Western metaphysics.

In 'Being and Time' he analyzes human existence (Dasein) through existentials: being-in-the-world, care, anxiety, being-toward-death. Authentic existence requires accepting one's finitude.

His connection with Nazism remains a subject of discussion, but Heidegger's philosophical influence is undeniable.
